Searching and Sorting Posts

Overview

You may search and sort posts in any Harmonize discussion topic. Start by navigating to the topic in question.

 

Searching Posts

At the top of every topic there is a Search box. You can enter a keyword and click Search. The search results are returned and highlighted. You can pinpoint specific results by using the filters and sorts to the left: Posted By and Sort By. Note that it may take up to 15 minutes for newly added content to display in search results.

Posted By

Posted By filters the results using one of the following options:

  • Anyone: Returns results by anyone
  • You: Returns posts & comments that only you have made
  • Teacher: Returns posts & comments that only the teacher has made
  • Student: Returns posts & comments only by students

Sort By

Sort By orders the results in one of the following ways:

  • Relevance: Returns results by relevance
  • Most Recent: Returns the results that have been most recently posted.

Sorting Posts

You may sort posts using the Sort By menu. The display of posts will be ordered based on your selection.

  • My Posts & Comments: the logged in user will see their posts and comments at the top.
  • Oldest: Shows all posts in chronological order - oldest first. (default view)
  • Newest: Shows all posts in chronological order - newest first.
  • New / Unread: New and unread posts display first.
  • Instructor: Displays the instructor's posts at the top.
  • Name: Sorts alphabetically by last name.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

My search returns no results even though some posts contain the key term. Why?

  • It may take up to 15 minutes for newly added content to display in search results. Try waiting a little bit and running the search again.
