Managing Discussions: Deleting Posts & Disabling Reactions

Overview

As an instructor, you have the ability to delete posts and enable or disable reactions.

 

Hiding and Deleting a Post, Comment, or Reply

Instructors can delete a student's post or comment in two different ways:

  1. Deleting once: hides the post from students.

  2. Deleting twice: permanently removes the post for all users.

 

1. Deleting (Hiding from Students) a Post, Comment, or Reply

  • From the Post or Comment, use the Menu option and select to Delete the Post or Comment.

  • The Post or Comment will still be visible to the Instructor with a note that it was Administratively deleted. Students will not see the post or comments in this state.

2. Permanently Deleting (for all users) a Post, Comment, or Reply

  • Once the Post or Comment is administratively deleted, the Instructor can optionally choose to Permanently Delete it from the topic. The Post or Comment will no longer be visible to the Instructor.

Enabling & Disabling Reactions

As an Instructor editing a topic, you can optionally turn on reactions within Post Settings by checking the "Allow students to react to a posts and comments." checkbox.

Participants can click React on the post or comment and select from one of the following reactions.

  • This is helpful
  • Good point
  • I agree
  • Great Idea
  • Inspiring
  • Unique

  • Participants can view the reactions by clicking on React on the front of the card.
