Overview
Instructors can delete a student's post or comment in two different ways:
- Deleting once: hides the post from students.
- Deleting twice: permanently removes the post for all users.
1. Deleting (Hiding from Students) a Post, Comment, or Reply
- From the Post or Comment, use the Menu option and select to Delete the Post or Comment.
- The Post or Comment will still be visible to the Instructor with a note that it was Administratively deleted. Students will not see the post or comments in this state.
2. Permanently Deleting (for all users) a Post, Comment, or Reply
- Once the Post or Comment is administratively deleted, the Instructor can optionally choose to Permanently Delete it from the topic. The Post or Comment will no longer be visible to the Instructor.
Deleting or Editing Assignment Posts in Peer Review
In Peer Review activities, students can edit their assignment posts until a peer begins reviewing their work. After that, the submission will be locked, and they will no longer be able to edit.
Viewing Deleted Posts
You can always view any posts deleted by you or a student in the Activity Area (or the in the Grades & Activity Area). By default, deleted posts are not shown, but we will always display the number of deleted posts, and you can toggle that setting on to see them.
FAQ
My students need to edit their peer review assignment posts but can't. What can they do?
- There is not currently a way for a student to edit a post once someone has claimed it for review. We are actively developing a feature that would allow editing (even after a reviewer has begun working) with permission from the instructor. In the meantime, we'd recommend that each reviewer post a comment to the submitted post requesting a readable draft. The submitter can then reply to them with the correct draft.
