Overview
An Instructure update is causing recently submitted Harmonize student work to fail to load correctly in Canvas SpeedGrader.
When this issue occurs, instructors may see one of the following instead of the expected student submission details:
- In Discussions, Peer Review, and Individual Assignments, SpeedGrader may display the Harmonize Communication Center instead of the student’s submission.
- In Social Reading, SpeedGrader may display a File Not Found error instead of the student’s activity.
Harmonize has reported this issue to Instructure and is working to escalate it. We will continue to share updates on the Harmonize Status Page as more information becomes available.
Workaround: Use the Harmonize Activity Report
While we work with Instructure on a resolution, instructors can use the Harmonize Activity View to review student activity while entering grades in SpeedGrader. Watch the video below to learn how. If you prefer written instructions jump ahead to Text and Screenshot Instructions.

To use this workaround:
- Open the main Harmonize activity.
- Select Activity.
- Open the Activity View in a separate window, and click on any student name.
- Use the Activity View alongside Canvas SpeedGrader while entering grades.
This is not the intended grading workflow, but it is currently the best available workaround for reviewing student submissions affected by this issue.
